I like this video because it adds humors but it is also informational. I wish it was over 3 man mechanic instead of 2 man. A lot of university use 3 man mechanics for their student officials.

National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) (http://www.ncwa.net/)

The NCWA is the national governing body for college wrestling teams. If you follow college athletics, you would know that many athletic departments of universities are dropping their college wrestling programs. Student –ran wrestling clubs are being formed throughout the country so that they can continue to wrestle after high school. Kennesaw State University, my alma mater and the location of my internship, hosted the NCWA South Eastern Conference championship last weekend. We had 119 student wrestlers, from universities in the southeastern part of the country, competing in various weight classes.

National Cheer Association (NCA) (http://www.nationalspirit.com/) The NCA is the national governing body for cheerleading. College cheerleading isn’t governed by the NCAA. At Kennesaw State, our two time Division II NCA cheerleading team is governed by our collegiate club sports program.

American Collegiate Ice Hockey Association (ACHA) (http://www.achahockey.org/) ACHA is the governing body for collegiate club hockey teams. Both Western Illinois University and Kennesaw State University have club ice hockey teams. The club hockey team at KSU is headed to Grand Rapids, Michigan next week for the National ACHA Championship Tournament.

Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) (http://mcla.us/) The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) is a national governing body for non-intercollegiate, varsity lacrosse programs. The MCLA governs 213 teams in two divisions, across ten conferences in the United States and Canada.

National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) (http://www.ncrha.org/) The NCRHA is the national governing body for collegiate roller hockey. Both Western Illinois University and Kennesaw State University have club roller hockey teams. CommentDelete

Well, I decided to start back blogging…hopefully one day I will become the black Bill Simmons. You may want to know what I’ve been up to. Well, since my last blog, I’ve graduated from Kennesaw State, went to Western Illinois to work as a Graduate Assistant for intramural sports, and back to Kennesaw State to do an internship for sport clubs and intramurals. I’m currently taking two online instructional technology classes to aid in my future working in campus recreation. I’m still happy unmarried without children. lol Ok back to the blogging….

Mora Family Vent

I guess I will to start with Jim Mora, Sr. He called Mike Vick a coach killer earlier this season on a radio show. I’m not saying Vick is the best quarterback in the NFL, but he is definately in my opinion at least top 10. Here is why I think this. He’s a dynamic talent, who gives defensive coordinators nightmares every week trying to think of ways to contain him. He can be very inconsistent at times. I still feel that he gives the Falcons a chance to win every week. I feel like if his wide receivers played more like 1st round receivers than he would be successful. I think he is the most physically talented player in the NFL. Jim Mora was very irresponsible saying what he said, but I guess it runs in the family.

On to Junior, last week on a radio show that he would leave the Falcons if the job at the University of Washington even if the Falcons won a Super Bowl. Maybe, he wants to get fired. I have a gut feeling that what it is. Who else say something like that? Anyway, I hope he gets fired and doesn’t find a job next year. That would be my Christmas present.

Big time College football vent

At the University of Arkansas, three freshman who played a lot this year made an uproar last week. Mitch Mustain, Ben Cleveland, and Damian Williams were a part of Arkansas’s prized recruiting class this past off season. All three players went to Springdale High School where current offensive coordinator, Gus Malzahn, coached them. The parents of the players met with athletic director Frank Broyles the week before last to raise concerns that their sons might not be a good fit for the Razorbacks’ system. Mustain, a prized quarterback, and Cleveland, a tight end, have decided to remain at Arkansas, while Williams, a wide receiver, has decided to transfer. Despite the fact that Arkansas won 10 games and had the opportunity to play for a SEC championship and all three players had the opportunity to play in probably the best conference in football as true freshmen, it still was good enough for them. Cleveland’s dad is quoted as saying in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that, “Our boys are used to catching 60 passes a year. They want to go to a college where they get the same opportunity.” Well maybe they should have thought about that before signing with Arkansas. Maybe they should have went to Hawaii. Maybe, I lost in my thinking, but having the opportunity to play for a championship on one of the best teams in the best conference in college football would be enough for me. Maybe its just me????

Blog Experience

I have enjoyed doing this blog this past semester. I hope I can still write a blog every week. Now, I feel I will have the freedom to write about whatever I’m thinking about at the time. The only trouble I had with this blog was finding something on topic to write about. I never knew how hard it was to write 200 words about a topic till this class.

I think I picked a good subject to talk about. The apparel industry and sports world collide a lot. It was just hard sometimes to find news stories every week talking about it. I found myself writing more about topics related to what had been talking about in class than the topic my blog was supposed to be about. I guess if I could do it all again maybe I would have picked a topic that would be in the news every week. The reason I picked this topic in the first place because of my background in both sports and the apparel industry. I grew up a sports fanatic and in all accounts I’m still the same fanatic as I was when I was little. I have a bachelor’s degree in Apparel and Textile Engineering with a concentration in Textiles from Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, GA.

I enjoyed the class in general. It was challenging because I’m not good when it comes to finance and economics. I think even though I would want to do multiple choice that the essay questions helped us understand the subject matter better. I understand the basic concepts a lot more now than when I was taking economics.

Ben Wallace was recently taking out of a game because of breaking a team rule. That team rule is that no Chicago Bulls player is allowed to wear a headband. The reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year signed a 60 million dollar free agent deal over the summer.
“If you know the rules and break them, you expect to be punished. I can’t try to put myself above the team or anybody else and wear a headband like I did,” he told the Chicago Tribune. “I’m man enough to take the punishment. But I’m not sorry.” So, what will happend next? Stay tune to this new NBA soap opera.

New News on Justin Gatlin

The suspended track star recently worked out for the Houston Texans. Gatlin, who ran track at the University of Tennessee, hasn’t played organized football since the 10th grade. Gatlin, who currently shares the world record for the 100 meter dash, was suspended after failing a drug test when he tested positive for testosterone and other steroids. Gatlin is likely to lose that share of the world record after the appeal process is over. He is 24 years old and weights 180 pounds. Teams in the NFL work players out all the time, so, more than likely they won’t be signing him anytime this season. I think the fact that he’s fast and only 24 opens the door for him though.

New TV contract for MLB with Fox and TBS

Major League Baseball owner have agreed to a new contract with Fox and TBS that will run through 2013. The deal is reported to be worth $3 billion. TBS will show all of the first round games. They will share the NL and AL championship series, alternating leagues each year. Fox will get the ALCS next year, while TBS will have the NLCS. The World Series, All-Star games and Saturday afternoon regular-season telecasts will all remain on Fox. The owners voted unanimously to approve this deal on Thursday.

In possible replay new, General Manager meeting this week in Naples, Fla., asked a committee that deals with umpires to come up with recommendations on instant replay. Many GMs favor instant replay on fair and foul calls as well as disputed home runs.

NBA Stats on New Ball

Stats from 82games.com show the new ball may have improved not hurt the NBA game offensively. The stats show that turnovers are down from last year and points per game, field goal percentage, and free throw percentage are up. This comes after you have had a series of complaints about how the ball handles from NBA superstars like Lebron James and Steve Nash.
